design notes

It's a pleasure to be invited back this year to work with a very talented Footlights cast and professional production team. Watching the material being devised really helped to develop visual ideas for the show. This year we are on board the flag-ship of the cruise line 'Stella Maris', an ocean liner comparable to the likes of the Queen Mary and the Aquitania! Built with no expense spared, to the highest standards of sea-worthiness and with some 3,857 rivets, the ship will carry you with us in complete luxury. The crew, when dressed immaculately in their distinctive white Stella Maris uniforms, will entertain you in vintage clothing left by previous passengers, as they celebrate the century in song.

Only a few odd requests this year... look out for the shapely legs kindly donated by Pretty Polly, the support tights specialists! Not to mention the dancing pants, thanks to Jockey Y Fronts. I'm sure you will enjoy the magical underwater scene extensively researched scuba-diving off the Thames Barrier Reef!

Bon Voyage Footlights 1999
